“Shees” is an abbreviation of the name for the god of the Christians. I don’t mean to nitpick, but it bothers me to see Jews using the name of somebody else’s god.
Oy vey! Sheesh is actually a derivative of Jeez, which in turn is a derivative of Jesus. Since it’s נ”ט בר נ”ט, it’s Muttar.
Regardless, as a Jew, you use the names of pagan gods all the time when you refer to the month of Tammuz.
Not necessarily, it is also thought to originate as a phrase to avoid saying a similar swear word.
Se it all the time, running red lights and stop signs is an everyday occurrence in this town
Until the police start waking up to ticket these knuckleheads (instead of running into crosswalks and ticketing those that don’t stop) expect it to be more and more common. this town is headed downhill in regard to the basic traffic laws (and for those that don’t like the name I gave the people that are running reds. I don’t care!)
