the Mikva is a fundraiser for the shul
usually keeps it running for the year and is not going to random savy business people
for what it’s worth
just become a card carrying member that goes daily and the price stays the same as always

In some mikvaos they charge the higher price for erev yom tov even if have yearly subscription

This year some shuls went up to 20$

This has been going on since forever, why did it only start bebothering you now?
Anyways, you can look at it like this: Since many more people go then, they are charging them the one-time use fee, as opposed to the bulk rate others who go every erev Shabbos get.
(I know, the mikvaos say that Erev R”H and Y”K are not included even if you have a full-year subscription, I’m not sure why not, but like with everything, you pay less for bulk.)
Its the law of supply nd demand. Higher demand, higher price. Not robbery.

umm, supply and DEMAND. Not a chiddush that demand is higher on Erev YK
Mikvaos should be kept very clean – they are, but still things like no dust on a/c vents etc. Also, maybe a second cleaning in middle of day of Erev R”H and Y”K – since many more people than usual and indeed, charging more.
Would be nice if instead of chlorine would be salt water – as most pools are in recent years. Chlorine s one of the strongest poisons known to man etc.
And generally, they should be kept in good condition; painted, no rust on hooks etc. Again, they do more or less, but better more than less!
It’s wrong for anyone to go with athletes’ foot – can cause others to get it. At least wear slippers along floors and showers. (And don’t eat junk food, so you won’t have it. If you already do, use coconut oil to help get rid of it – naturally anti-bacterial.)

Why the four thumbs downs?
And please make sure there is chamin (hot water) – as is the hlaacha a shower should be on Erev Shabbos/Y”T. If you need, get more water heaters and/or have them descaled.
Why all the thumbs downs? Maybe it’s just the one or two mikvaos I go to and others are better..
For others out there reading this, the mikvaos are certainly not any worse than any pool/shower area out there, but why not better?

They don’t raise the price for the people that are members of the Shul and pay in during the Year, The Monthly card fee is not changed, those who don’t Contribute year long and just use it Erev Yom Kippur, pay a little Share for the convenience of having a Mikvah.

Wouldn’t you expect a person buying seats just for R”H & Y”K to pay more than what a Shul member pays included with membership?
They do. When you buy a seat for all year it usually includes yomim noraim (or when you buy for yomim noraim it includes a seat for all year) so if you’re only buying for yomim noraim you are essentially paying more than the guy who’s there all year
pays for cost of maintenance…Bchol meodecha is when ur moiser nefesh paying for mitzvos. also if u cant pay bills go learn.
If you are a once a year mikva goer, then you should be paying your fair share of keeping it operational all year for you, hence the higher price for erev y”k. Does that go daily are paying thier fare share all year.
Running and maintaining a mikva is very expensive. I always tell people. It should cost $10 every time. But we need to give discounts for daily users. If you go once a year, you’re paying for it to stay open the whole year.
By some of the responses here. Some people are so ignorant on how a mikva works.
The higher price is there because many of the people using the Mikva only use it that one day so they basically have a mikva that is not in use a full year just for one day – somebody has to cover that expense! Even year round users should be happy with the one day increase as the extra Money raised on high use days will allow the Mikva to be more affordable the rest of the year!
As someone who uses the mikveh daily. Clean and calm. All of a sudden it becomes a shuk on erev yom kipur so I would suggest they charge 50 for single users
im sympathetic to your complaint but this is way it has been for 100 years at all mikvas .compare to why esrogim are cheaper during sukkos as opposed to before yomtov theirs a supply and demand factor which causes prices to spike when demand is high and mikvas are expensive to operate, clean and maintain so if theirs a few days a year where they can earn extra it balances out the rest of the year they arent busy consider a mikva is open 365 days a year 7 days a week both day/night

The mikvah you are talking about (assuming) is open year round and has regular member paying their monthly dues to help cover the operating costs.
You show up once a year and expect to find a nice clean well maintined mikvah but only want to pay the reg price…How does that make any sense???
Side note – another reason for it being so expensive is probably to control the amount of once-a-year-dippers people coming and causing chaos which is unfair for the reg members
