Statement of Attorney General Matthew J. Platkin Regarding Precautions Being Taken in New Jersey in Response to the Attacks on Israel

Statement: We are closely monitoring the events in the Middle East and are ensuring strong communication between New Jersey’s law enforcement, religious leaders, and community members. My highest priority is to keep the residents of New Jersey safe, especially during times of increased tension around the world.

While there have been no credible threats to safety, as we have done since October 7, law enforcement will continue to have a heightened presence around houses of worship and other locations where people congregate. We will work together to make sure that all members of our New Jersey community feel safe.

We continue to call upon New Jersey residents to be extra vigilant, and if you see suspicious activity, please report it to your local authorities without delay. No information is too insignificant to report, and we take every piece of information seriously.

Members of the public are also encouraged to report bias incidents to their local police departments, or via the NJBIAS online portal at https://bias.njcivilrights.gov, or by calling 800-277-BIAS.

We remain steadfast in our efforts to ensure that our state is not home to hate, intolerance, or violence.
