Statement from LFD Chief Michael D’Elia Jr.

lfd-chief-mike-delia-tlsI would like to go on the record that as the Fire Chief, I have a good working relationship with the current Board of Fire Commissioners. I believe that over the last two years, they have done a great job of managing the needs of the department with the obvious budget constraints that they face. I realize it is not an easy task an appreciate their time and dedication to the department and the community.

The facts are that Commissioners Meir Cohen, John Antonis and David Mizrahi have given a revitalization to the Lakewood Fire Department! Membership within the Department is up tremendously with more prospective members each week! We have increased quality training within the last couple of years primarily because we have a mutual respect and understanding with the Fire Commissioners ! The morale within the fire stations is higher than it was a few years ago!

  1. I agree. I believe that we need to strengthen the current board and continue in their direction. I look forward to meeting the Chief and his assistants and I hope I can look forward to their support and the support of the voters of Lakewood.
The fire department deserves a strong, homogeneous board of commissioners working together through mutual respect.
A vote for me will keep the fire district going in the right direction.
