On the evening of Saturday, July 18, 2015, the New Jersey State Police will conduct a DWI sobriety checkpoint on the northbound side of the Garden State Parkway in Holmdel Township, Monmouth County, near the PNC Arts Center. Motorists can expect some delays while this safety initiative is being conducted.
In 2014, 79 crashes involving alcohol occurred on the Garden State Parkway in the Holmdel Station area, and three of nine fatal accidents in the same area involved alcohol. Between 2012 and 2014, more than 1,000 alcohol related arrests were made in and around the concert venue.
“Enhanced DWI enforcement on the Garden State Parkway will serve as a deterrent to people who may be inclined to take the wheel after having too much to drink,” said Lt. Colonel Patrick Callahan, Deputy Superintendent. “We are confident that taking impaired drivers off the road will reduce the overall number of crashes in the area.”
Troopers will be looking for signs of impairment due to alcohol or drugs. If you plan on drinking, do not drive and make sure to always have a designated driver.

It is unconstitutional for police to pull someone over without reasonable suspicion. Checkpoints are illegal. We don’t live in Nazi Germany 1939, or KGB Russia. This is the united states of America, supposed to be land of the free…

if people in todays new generation would be more responsible of themselves and for others, then they wouldn’t need to do this. today we are living in the new generation of self-centeredness & instant gratification, where everything is ME ME ONLY ME. do you see the crazy driving going on around? and these are from people who are not drunk. they just only care about themselves. what about OTHER cars & innocent pedestrians walking the streets or bikers?
I hope soon people will start to be more responsible & start caring about other peoples lives & their safety
Holmdel is where the pnc art center is and I’m sure there’s a concert Saturday night, it’s a smart place for a checkpoint. And it’s not like nazi Germany not everyone is pulled over.
