special childrens center buildingThe Special Children’s Center has recently received a grant which will allow for the expansion of their building, TLS has learned. The $142,000 grant, from the Department of Housing and Urban Development, was obtained with the help of Congressman Chris Smith, and will be administered through the Lakewood Township.

The Special Children’s Center, located on Prospect Street, will add an additional 2800 feet to the building which is expected to be completed towards the beginning of the new school year, the school tells TLS.

The Center moved into its current building in 2009. TLS-CCP.

  1. Thank you for your help, Congressman Smith! My son spends many hours a day at the Center. The staff certainly welcomes the additional space.

  2. That’s the way to go Federal money and out of town fundraising. Keep it up SCC, Many should learn from you how to Fundraise.

  3. If anyone deserve’s this money it’s The Special Children Center”. The work they do, the love and attention they provide each and every special child that enters their school is truely remarkable!
    Keep up the great work!!!!

  4. It is not a school. It is a place of love and endless devotion. Too much to write in one comment. Find someone whose life was touched by the SCC (there are so many of them in this town-both clients and volunteers) and they will be more than happy to tell you about it.
