BEWARE: A woman riding her bike in broad daylight on East County Line Road was assaulted, but managed to fight off her attacker, police confirm to TLS.
At approximately 1 PM on Monday afternoon, Officer Daniel Brooks was dispatched to East County Line Road to investigate the report of a young woman who was lying on the ground and crying.
Upon arrival, he located a 25-year-old Lakewood woman who reported that she was approached by an unidentified Hispanic male while riding her bicycle down East County Line Road.
“She stated that the the male, who was driving a dark colored SUV, blocked her path and then exited his vehicle and – although according to her, he was not threatening – he repeatedly grabbed at her chest,” says Detective Sergeant Gregory Staffordsmith. “She was not seriously injured.”
But the woman fought back.
“The victim proceeded to strike him about his head and neck, forcing him to retreat to his vehicle and flee east on East County Line Road,” Staffordsmith says.
The suspect was last seen wearing a white t-shirt and light colored shorts. Anyone with information is asked to contact Det. Nathaniel Reyes at 732-363-0200 ext. 5345.
