PHOTOS & VIDEO: A serious MVA sent two patients to the Hospital a short time ago. The crash occurred at the intersection of New Hampshire Avenue and Pine Street, and one of the patients were extricated from the vehicle by Lakewood First Aid. The patients were transported to Jersey Shore Medical Center by EMS and LFA, with serious injuries.
New Hampshire Avenue is shut at Cedarbridge and at Pine Street as LPD’s Traffic & Saftey conduct an investigation.
This intersection has been the scene of dozens of serious accidents in the recent years. TLS-50/TLS-89/TLS-CCP
UPDATE: The intersection has been re-opened.
Wow, holy cow 324 must have a lot of layers on not to be needing a coat outside on a day like this. This is a very dangerous intersection indeed, hope everyone is ok.
Oh one more thing, can someone find out what the county is doing on that corner and along NH on the shoulder? Thanks
actually, this intersection is not dangerous at all. it is the drivers who pass the intersection that are dangerous. I am talking about the cars that travel 60+mph on the 50mph new hampshire and routinely run past the red, hitting cars that cross over from pine/oberlin.
324 where is your coat, dude your gonna get sick!! I’m gonna pick up some Theraflu for you and send it over to your office so you have for this weekend.
# 3 , you are wrong and you even state why in your response. cars travel too fast, make improper turns, use it as a turn around after Blue Claw games, make right on reds into oncoming traffic, etc, etc, THUS……..making this a dangerous intersection. DUH
Did Moe get another new coat. Go Moe for LTC 2011
#5… you are wrong. If people obeyed the laws, including all of the violations you just mentioned, it would be safe. It is the drivers that are the danger not the intersection. It would be a dangerous intersection if there was something causing obstruction of views or poor timing of lights.
Cars don’t kill people, Bad driver’s do.
Look at Officer Mencks leather coat…. it matches his leather boots from the Sunday parade. Niiiiice!
Was 288 wearing the chaps as well or just the boots……
looking thru the pics, not sure how i missed 324. by the way 324, u missed the party tuesday night!!!!
Drivers drive fast and do all kind of stupid and illegal maneuvers, but they do that at every intersection yet this intersection seems to be extremely vulnerable to motor vehicle accidents.
the fact that the DOT (City, County, or State) does not solve the problem at this intersection, is in my humble opinion Criminal negligence.
324 is the pic!
Where was SGT 217???
Yes, it’s true that people kill people, not intersections, but the common use of the term “Dangerous Intersection” is used to describe an intersection with a higher than average accident rate.
#3 & #7 I assume are not native English Speakers due to their lack of comprehension of this term. Do a simple Google search to get more clarification what “Dangerous Intersection” means.
That is a dangerous intersection. If you are on Oberlin trying to turn left onto N.H. – if there’s a car or truck facing you on Pine, you can not see a thing beyond that vehicle.
I hope everyone will be alright. LPD and EMS great job stay safe and warm.
#15… Really??? English is my only language and I have my Bachelors Degree and some credits towards my Masters Degree. Next time you try to insult someone, think twice.
P.S. Please follow the laws of the road and, that includes, teaching your children the laws too.
#18 BTL, MTL, do not count as degrees as far as English is concerned.
Just think there will be even fewer police around to ensure that the drivers obey the laws and keep everyone safe…Good luck drivers in Lakewood
We need to learn better driving skills in this town
#19. He was not talking about my grammar. He was trying to incinuate that I do not understand the definition of “dangerous intersection” so please, read carefully before you comment. Maybe English is not your primary or first language.
#19, additionally, I do not have my BTL nor MTL. I have my BSW, CSW, and was working towards my MSW.
To #18, that was kinda my point.
I was writing “tongue in cheek”. That doesn’t mean I actually surgically insert my tongue into my cheek.
