PHOTOS & VIDEO (Updated 9:30 p.m) At about 3:00 p.m. this afternoon, Police responded to the Brettwood Apartments on River Avenue for reports of multiple shots fired. The gunshots were confirmed and the suspect apparently holed himself up in a nearby apartment. The S.R.T (Special Response Team) was immediately called in. The team staged in the area and snipers (pictured) took position on a nearby porch in the Regency Development. Moments ago, a Warrant was issued and the team moved in. A Gas grenade was thrown into the apartment at approximately 7:40 p.m., and the team made entry. The apartment turned out empty. the pix and videos were ‘donated’ by residents of regency who stood and watched the action for over 4 hours! The snipers didnt ask any1 permission they just showed up on peoples porches!!

SRT or SWAT is a volunteer position after a letter of intention is written and then input from supervisors and recommendations are made. They earn no extra money, but do get better mandatory training. They then have to pass difficult physical and performance tests, They are there because they are high achievers and want to make a difference. So sometimes when you see them around in town on a scene, they are all business, not gonna talk a lot about whats going on. Yesterday they responded to a report of a gunfight between 2 groups of people, and were led to believe someone was inside with a gun. A sniper / observer team were deployed as an over watch, to gather intelligence to report back to the team. This doesn’t mean they were going to shoot someone, but a riflescope gives them a good view. I can see from these great pictures ( rare in these cases ) that the sniper / observer team carried their guns and equipment in cases into their location. Permission must have been given for them to have had that location, but if not it was necessary given the location which was directly in front of the apartment windows. These apartments have long been an eyesore in this town and are a go between for residents, criminals from High Point.
Well from the looks of this all worked out well a good job by all, and while 4 hours seems like a long time, remember no one was injured. I am sure arrests are going to be made in the near future.

pd never got permission for the location!!! they yelled at the owner when he asked what they were doing? never even said they were there!! why not??
I find it incredible that swat is setup on someones porch with heavy artillery and yet you head children playing the kitchen. Should they not have been evacuated???
