Road Rage, Taser and Death Threats: Toms River Man Sentenced to 3 Years in Prison

A 29-year-old Toms River man was sentenced Tuesday to three years in New Jersey State Prison after pleading guilty to threatening to kill another driver during a road rage incident in Atlantic City, authorities said.

Frank Marin was sentenced by Superior Court Judge Christine Smith after pleading guilty to one count of third-degree terroristic threats.

The incident occurred Sept. 12, 2025, when Atlantic City police officers responded to a reported road rage incident on Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard.

According to authorities, the victim told police he had stopped for an ambulance crossing an intersection when a white Nissan Altima driven by Marin ran a red light and nearly collided with his vehicle.

The two drivers confronted each other on MLK Boulevard, where the victim told Marin that he had nearly struck his vehicle.

As the victim attempted to leave, Marin allegedly cut off his vehicle from the passenger side and began threatening him. Marin told the victim he would kill him and his dog, according to authorities.

Marin then retrieved a Taser from his vehicle and approached the victim’s car, authorities said.

The victim moved his vehicle forward and collided with Marin’s Nissan. Marin then returned to his vehicle and drove away, according to police.

Marin was sentenced to three years in state prison.

Terrible, and may it be a lesson that such behavior ends with more problems – not less. It’s important for people not to take things so personally, and to see if maybe there is more to the story before judging another person. In this case, it seems quite clear that the perpetrator was wrong on multiple accounts, yet he got upset at the one who stopped. He’s now in prison for three years. Had he backed down once he learned he was wrong, it’s likely the other driver – whom he almost hit – would not even have called the police. All the offender had to do was apologize and pledge to drive more carefully in the future, and all would have been well. Though it’s possible the almost victim at that point should perhaps have called the police anyways, as someone who runs a red light and nearly crashes is a problem, I don’t know what to say exactly, but still, had he had a subdued attitude – which would only make sense, the other driver may not have called, and he would be a free bird, and hopefully having learnt his lesson to drive safely. Instead, he stood his ground and insisted on winning the argument, and lost out. A great lesson in life in general.
