Finding a burglar in your car while you’re packing up to the airport in middle of the night is probably the last thing you’d expect. But one resident in Lakewood this morning experienced just that, but quickly turned into a hero and got two thugs off the streets.
At about 3:30 AM, a resident finished placing his suitcases in his car to catch a 6:30 AM flight, and returned into his home to grab a coffee, the resident tells TLS.
But when he came back outside, he found a Hispanic male in his car.
Upon seeing the car-owner, the suspect fled the car with a bag, but the victim gave chase with his car, while calling police.
The victim chased the man until he fell, whereupon he got out of his car and yelled at him to drop a bag he was holding.
Meanwhile, a Hispanic woman showed up in a vehicle attempting to help the suspect get away.
But when the woman got out of her vehicle, the victim jumped into the car and grabbed the keys out of the ignition as he awaited police.
Officers arrived moments later and placed them both under arrest.
It turns out the bag with the suspect contained a GPS and other items – possibly proceeds from previous burglaries.
The incident is being investigated.
Hero ? He is lucky he didn’t get shot.
Where did this happen?
did this happen????
Where, it did happen
Hero! Great job fighting back!
NOW THIS WAS DANGEROUS, BUT AWESOME! I WOULD HAVE DONE THE SAME THING.
ITS TIME WE AS CITIZENS FIGHT BACK, AND NOT JUST DIAL A PHONE NUMBER EXPECTING ‘SOMEONE ELSE TO DO THE FIGHTING’ FOR YOU! STOP SITTING ON YOUR (moderated), AND GET UP AND BE MORE PRO-ACTIVE WITHIN YOUR COMMUNITY. STOP BEING AFRAID OF YOUR OWN SHADOW’S AND WATCH THE CRIMINALS GO ELSEWHERE TO “WORK”.
lock your doors, lock your windows, press the “LOCK” button on your car remote if your up at night, just to make the horn honk, leave the lights on in the bathroom upstairs, etc.
So…he was driving and on the phone. Whats so strange about that?
Great job fighting back!
To #7
FYI the law specifically allows driving while on the cell with emergency services. Know the law before shooting off.
We could have all been standing at a Levaya today, and in 2 weeks at a major fundraiser for a young almona with 5 children. Because this un thoughtful, hot head decided to take matters in his own hands.
He should have stayed far away and called 911, and let Lakewood’s finest do there handy work.
This guy got lucky- forget the gps –> safety is more important.
My gps was stolen 2 days ago!!!!how do I find out if its mine??what area was this in?
It really DID happen!
Were and why was he going to the airport @ 330 am?
Great job!!! “Could have , should have, would have” this entire country needs to stop whining, stop depending on the goverment to take care of you, and get up and do something!!!!
Kol Hakavod!!!
Kahana Chai!!!
Wonder if he made the flight
The perp was probably an illegal. if he can’t find honest work during the day, guess what he has to do at night to make a living. When will the US government wake up & see what they are doing to our cities and towns?
