Resident Concerns Prompt Quick Response to New Parking Ordinance in Jackson

With traffic safety and congestion in mind, the Jackson council recently introduced an ordinance that would restrict parking on side streets within 100 feet of county highways.

That ordinance called for a 50’ ban and a 100’ restriction to residents only. Residents, under the ordinance could apply for a free parking permit limited to one per household.

Council President Jennifer Kuhn said several residents have expressed concerns about the one vehicle limit and requested additional permits.

After discussing this with Council members, Council President Kuhn said they will be modifying the ordinance on second reading to say that special permits may be issued to accommodate hardships such as multiple vehicles or insufficient driveway space. The ordinance will also clarify that you can only obtain the permit for parking adjacent to your property.

Where you stated previously that you leave out locations so that emergency services don’t get overwhelmed.

    Is this an emergency?
