New Jersey homeowners and renters have less than two weeks left to apply for the state’s property tax relief programs, with the filing deadline set for Monday, November 2, 2026.
In a release issued Thursday, the New Jersey Treasury’s Division of Taxation urged eligible residents to file before the deadline.
Seniors aged 65 and older, as well as disabled homeowners and mobile homeowners, can apply for all three programs, ANCHOR, Senior Freeze and Stay NJ, on a single form, the PAS-1. The PAS-1 replaced the separate Senior Freeze and ANCHOR applications, so eligible residents no longer need to file more than one.
Residents under 65 who own or rent in New Jersey can apply for ANCHOR benefits using the ANC-1 application. Most eligible homeowners under 65 and renters were already filed automatically by the Division and received ANCHOR Benefit Confirmation Letters in August; the ANC-1 is for eligible residents who did not receive a letter.
Both forms can be filed online at propertytaxreliefapp.nj.gov.
“The PAS-1 application allows seniors and disabled residents to apply for all of New Jersey’s property tax relief programs at one time and makes the process as seamless as possible,” said State Treasurer Aaron Binder. “We want to ensure that all eligible residents take advantage of these programs designed to make New Jersey a more affordable place to live.”
Residents who need help can:
- Attend an in-person filing event, where a Division of Taxation representative will file the application for them, including a Lakewood event this Sunday, October 25
- Visit a Regional Information Center for in-person help
- Book a phone appointment through TeleGov
- Call the Property Tax Relief Hotline at 1-888-238-1233
Benefit status, FAQs and program details are available at propertytaxrelief.nj.gov.
With so many Lakewood families who own or rent their homes, readers are encouraged to file now and not wait until the last minute.
