The Lakewood Board of Education will again be distributing Gelbstein’s food boxes today from 3:30 PM to 6:00 PM.
As in past weeks, the weekday meal boxes are available for students 0-18 who are not receiving free lunches from their school, and all children under the age of 18 are eligible for the weekend boxes.
Organizers of the food box distributions tell TLS that despite there being heavy rain in the area today, the distribution will go on as usual. Provisions, including tents, are being put into place.
Distribution of boxes for those coming by car will begin at 3:30 PM at the Clifton Avenue Grade School and Lakewood Middle School, while those who arrive by foot will begin receiving food boxes at 4:00 PM.
The BOE says they have already distributed over 2.5 million meals to Lakewood residents, with 88,000 meals distributed last week alone.

What’s the difference between the weekday meal box and the weekend meal box? When I asked the workers, they had no idea and said that everyone gets just one box.
Can someone explain?
Last week on 7th street they were giving out 1 box per child that came from the public school. Each kid walks away with a box mo questions asked. They give them before they start giving to the cars which are already waiting on line for a long time.
They are allways out of stock by 5:15 at 7th st
Is there any boxes for people ages 19 and older?? I don’t think its fair that all my tax money is going to everyone else and my family gets absolutely nothing since we are all over age…
What about the entire welfare system is fair?
