Total solar eclipses don’t happen every day. The last time a solar eclipse brought complete darkness to a swath of locations in the continental United States was 38 years ago, on Erev Rosh Chodesh Adar 5739/1979. The next such rare and amazing astronomical event will be visible in the Continental United States this coming Erev Rosh Chodesh Elul 5777, Monday, August 21, 2017. At least a million Americans are expected to view it. Some will even travel thousands of miles just to witness the phenomenon in person and have booked their tours, airline seats, and lodging as long as two years ago!
Discover the Torah ramifications of this total solar eclipse–one of Hashem’s greatest wonders– tomorrow, Thursday, July 27, 2107, 9-10 p.m., as Rabbi Dovid Heber, Rav of Khal Ahavas Yisroel Tzemach Tzedek (KAYTT) and STAR-K Kashrus Administrator, explores the topic: “Preparing for the Great American Eclipse of 2017 in Halacha and Agada”. Men and women are invited to attend this free event sponsored by KAYTT and Agudath Israel, which will take place at Agudath Israel, 6200 Park Heights Avenue. Maariv will follow.
This event will be web streamed, gratis, for live viewing during the event and for post-event viewing. The URL for the shiur web stream is:
