Submitted: One of the original Founders of the Silver Spring Orthodox Jewish Community was Niftar this week, Rabbi Chaim Herzel Kranz Zt”l. He has children and grandchildren living in Lakewood, Kranz and Pinter families.
A Talmid of Rav Elya Meir Bloch, Rabbi Kranz was the founder of Beis Knesses Ahavas Yisrael (Silver Spring Jewish Center “Kranz’s”), Mikva Tahara Ahavas Yisroel (the first Mikva in Silver Spring), Bernstein Jewish Academy, Hebrew Sheltering home, Silver Spring Learning Center, and Hebrew Day School of Montgomery County.
He leaves behind a family which continue his legacy, including the recent founding of the Kollel Chofetz Chaim in Silver Spring, MD, and a night kollel named after him, Zichron Chaim Herzel, in Lakewood. The Kollel is led by his grandson, Rabbi Daniel Kranz.
He was buried yesterday on Har Hazeisim.
