Public Safety Announcement

Public Safety Announcement: Should anyone spot a Jackson Twp. Police vehicle going above the posted speed limit en route to an emergency, or parked illegally during a call – even if a patient needs immediate care – please report it immediately (preferably with a video) to Chief Kunz, so he can instruct his officers to take immediate “legal and proper” enforcement to maintain “a safe environment for our residents and guests”.

There is no reason to believe this statement is anything other than an important PSA as part of the business of looking out for our community. We look forward to a reasonable resolution of the present concerns, and our continued, cooperative service to the residents of Jackson Township.”

Thank you for your attention to this matter.

Signed, looking to keep Jackson safe.

Volunteers speeding for personal reasons

Also post photos of any volunteers with flashing lights speeding for PERSONAL REASONS is wrong and putting other drivers in danger. This has been noticed reported and noticed too many times. Jackson Police Department is doing their job — keeping us drivers safe on the road.

Bad Apple in every bunch.

May I ask, how do you know it was for personal use? I’m sure LOE’s active theirs L&S’s if they need the bathroom desperately “because it was an emergency”. But let’s back to your statement. How would you know if it’s for personal use use?

Although I usually refrain from offering opinions, I feel compelled to share mine in this matter. While I’m uncertain about the specific cause of this incident, I hold utmost respect for the police, firefighters, emergency responders, etc., who diligently protect and serve our communities, often facing situations that most of us would rather avoid. Once again, I lack the knowledge of the underlying circumstances, but I believe it would be beneficial to move beyond this incident and foster mutual respect, rather than allowing it to escalate into an unnecessary conflict.

Respect needs to be mutual, and if these reports are true an apology needs to be forthcoming from the police department with an explanation as to why they are being harassed. And if this is being done on the individual level or at the request of the leadership for whatever reason.

i think you are assuming that there is only one incident that occured and it is fueling this public repsonse. From the articles i have read, there are numerous incidents of the police ticketing and harrasing people. If that is the case, how are we to move forward if it is not stopping?

Where I live in Jackson (Flair) the police are driving around or parked within the development almost daily looking 4 infractions so they can issue tickets.

This was true only until the chief released his terrible statement.

I was unable to edit my previous comment, so I’m replying here instead.

I’m glad I mentioned that I’m unfamiliar with the underlying circumstances. By default, I tend to give people the benefit of the doubt and treat them with respect, aiming to avoid conflicts whenever possible.

I’m adding to my comment – after posting, I’ve heard from quite a few people sharing personal experiences or secondhand accounts, which is really unfortunate.

There’s no reason for this to be on the scoop at all. This should be worked out between the two parties behind closed doors. We desperately need both organizations in Jackson to get along. And it’s no ones business besides the parties involved.

When you have a responder with illegal lights and siren driving irresponsibly in traffic it is everyones business the public is in danger. They should only go straight to where the ambulance is stationed and not going to the scene

The following message was conveyed to me earlier today by a close, but unknown acquaintance of mine:
“Thank you for taking the time to read this message!
“My best friend, who resided in Jackson Township, passed away just minutes ago. An ambulance arrived this morning to treat him and to rush him to the hospital. Naturally, I made sure the EMT’s adhered to the letter of the law. I insisted they park on the next block because today was a “No Parking” day on my friend’s block. I also threatened to call the police if the ambulance driver exceeded the prescribed speed limit. Thankfully, the ambulance arrived at the hospital in a lawful manner, with the EMTs obeying the local speed limit signs and the ‘No Parking’ signs to the letter.
“Unfortunately, the ambulance arrived at the hospital just a few minutes too late, otherwise my friend would have survived. Nevertheless, I haven’t the slightest regret, because I know with absolute certainty that my friend would have preferred passing away while adhering to the prescribed speed limits and parking laws, than to survive by unlawful means, specifically by exceeding the speed limits and by parking illegally.
“And I have no doubt that my friend in smiling in heaven right now, knowing full well that he sacrificed his dear life in order to heed the township’s parking rules and speed limits, thereby upholding the laws of Jackson Township.
“Ultimately, I take great comfort in knowing that I assisted my dear friend in his patriotic and lawful journey to heaven. And I am forever grateful for this once-in-a-lifetime, death-defying, emotional experience.”

I don’t think the Gedolim would approve of the way this is being handled on an ad hoc basis. Emotions cannot be the dominant factor here – Da’as Torah must be the controlling factor. Please Rabbossi.

The place to discuss this is not online rather Askanim should go and talk to the Chief privately.

Shtadlanus only!
