UPDATE: Over 2,600 Lakewood Residents Without Power; Temperature at Around 90 Degrees

JCP&L customers in the northeast section of Lakewood are experiencing power outages – apparently caused by the extreme heat and overload of the power supply.

Traffic lights at multiple intersections are out of power as well. Use caution.

Power is expected to be restored by 7:00 PM, the company said.

UPDATE: JCP&L now gave a restoration ETA of 10:00 PM.

The temperature in Lakewood is currently around 90 degrees.

monthly blackouts have become the new normal.
This has been an ongoing issue for years, yet nothing is being done to fix this.
its mind blowing that our politicians continue to let this happen.
We deserve reliable infrastructure.

Over development taxes the infrastructure.

Over development without prior planning is what taxes the infrastructure and everything else in this town. Handing out permits and variances like candy without any plan for how the projects would impact the area is what ruined a beautiful town.

I guess we only notice the good we have when it gets taken from us. we should really take sometime to reflect on all the good we have, and thank Hashem for everything he gives us,even we don’t always see the good

In case you are unaware, this kind of heat kills people. It’s not acceptable that the electric company was not prepared. This happens every year.

The problem is our tax dollars are going into the developers pockets, not infrastructure!:(

Very simple – many, many, many, more people moving in, but the grid is not being updated – they pack people in these homes and neglect the basic infrastructure. Politicians in this state are front and center during campaign season then disappear. They claim NO money left. Hmmm – where does it all go?? These conditions will get a lot worse in the next 5 -10 years if not sooner. No miracle will fix this. Routine electricity shortages/outages, overused sewer systems, TONS of garbage, terrible roads; seems like these towns are going backwards with dilapidated living conditions.

Not towns. Just Lakewood. That’s why Jackson etc are constantly fighting the Frum growth.
