  1. i am surprised there is such a high “no” vote. If we allow self serve, it will allow gas stations to have less people on call to pump gas, thereby eliminating some of the labor; we wont to have wait till someone comes over to pump gas, stations that cannot find enough employees to pump gas at night, now can have on person on call and let you pump gas., etc..

    • And that savings will go straight in their pocket !If gas pumper was not a desired job no one would do it! What’s next cook your own burger?

    • the people who don’t want the law change think that if we allow self serve, the gas stations will end up abolishing full service entirely to save as much money as possible by not paying for labor.

  2. Most people don’t realize but self service has a higher insurance rate which causes gas to be more expensive. NJ gas is expensive enough. We don’t need to pay to give up a service.

  3. I think we have self and full-service and this will make things go smoothly. We need freedom of choice. End the Government control of what we eat, sleep, environment, and entertainment. Government should not control our constitution rights.

  4. The price of gas will not go down if it becomes Self serve
So why would you want to get out of your warm car in the Freezing cold to pump gas

And if you pay in cash you will have to walk into the convenience store and wait on line each time you want to pump gas

Better to have a gas attendant take care of all these things for you at your car window
While you sit comfortably in your car in the cold winter with the Heat on
And the Hot Humid Summer with the AC on

  5. New Jersey is one of the most densely populated states. Ending full service could cause tremendous traffic with everyone getting out of their cars and taking the time to pump gasoline.

    • Huh? What about all the time wasted when there is one attendant running 12 pumps. I see that all the time, and I can spend close to 10 minutes waiting for something that I could have done in 3. Traffic with peope getting out of their cars? What planet do you live on? Have you ever visited any of the 49 states that allow self serve?

  6. Yes we should have self serve like the rest of the country. The law should require 1 full serve for every 3 self serve and limit the price on full serve to 2 cents per gallon more than self serve. These conditions will take care of the people who want to sit comfortably in their cars and the price limit will stop their objection to paying substantially more for their gas to cover the salary of the attendant. I will be good with 2 cents per gallon less and not having to wait for an attendant who wants to be tipped.

  7. I’m hoping for an end to ALL self service bans in any and all business establishments, including self service meal bans in restaurants.
The other day I walked into a restaurant, went into the kitchen and started preparing and serving myself my preferred meal of choice, with the giant-size portions that I typically eat. However, both the restaurant owner and the chef quickly approached me and told me that they do not offer self service meals in their establishment, and that I should leave the kitchen immediately.
In my humble opinion, a restaurant customer should be able to fill up his own stomach and his own gas tank with his own pair of hands, and not a strange pair of hands that have no connection whatsoever with his own body.
So, I’m clearly opposed to self service bans –
except when someone is taking his own life, then I believe that both self service and full service should be banned.

  8. No! Having an attendant of my gas is a great convenience, especially for older people and in bad weather. Permitting self-serve will not lower prices for everyone, but it will dramatically raise prices if you want an attendant to pump your gas. Bad idea.

  9. It’s much safer for woman. Not getting out of the car is a safer position. Many people get assaulted at gas stations. I for one feel safer not having to get out of the car at night at a random gas station.

  10. No self service thank you! I and my customers prefer the service of an attendant. Actual customer service is disappearing at an alarming rate – look
At what is happening in the Super Market!
