The pedestrian struck and critically injured on Route 9 last night, was drinking alcohol prior, Sergeant Frank Work of LPD’s Traffic & Safety division, says. “There was an odor of alcohol emanating from his breath”, which may have impaired his judgement at the time of the crash, Work says.
Work says the pedestrian was J-walking.
No charges were filed against the driver.
The 55 year old man suffered fractures in his legs, a broken rib and other injuries, and is listed in critical condition at Jersey Shore Medical Center. TLS.
217 you are the best lol
Why r u laughing about a serious injury #1?
And that surprises you why??
217, do you have a solution to the problem?
where do you see me laughing about him being hurt. i was laughing at my saying 217 is the best. he is a good friend of mine , stop trying to start trouble LAZ
polioce smell alcohol and assume drunk, Alcohol on breath in this situation could also mean serious head injury. Lets not convict anyone but ourselves for not being totally focused on our driving. we create distractions with radio, phone, texting and money for not getting things fixed. (Street Lights)
a smell of alcohol on the breath does not mean a head injury, however it can sometimes mean a person is in diabetic shock. Officer Work however does not just speculate on things, I am sure his information is accurate and more then likely has testing from hospital to back up the relaese of info.
your really going to blame streetlights out for all the peds that have been struck in that last few months ? it is solely the fault of people not useing cross walks and hitch hikeing . this guy was trying to cross a 4 lane highway in the dark and was to laxy to walk over to the crosswalk… has nothing at all to do with street lights number 6..
any word on the pedestrian?
