An accident on New Hampshire Ave. in Lakewood this morning left two people injured.
The accident happened shortly before 8:00 AM.
The extrication team removed at least one patient from the overturned vehicle.
Two parties were transported to the hospital.
Police tell TLS the driver who caused the accident was allegedly DWI.
An investigation in underway.

The corner of Swarthmore & New Hamp is dangerous only because people don’t look before they pull out of Swarthmore and make the right turn. I’ve been hit in the rear there because the driver behind me just assumed I was going to pull out without looking. Right on Red doesn’t mean you have the right of way, ever. Please slow down. There is no where you have to be that urgently that is more important than your safety and others.
It is not reckless driving. It is spaced out drivers, or ppl looking down at their phone. Ppl need to start focusing on their driving & stop everything else they are doing.
Why even post about them anymore? There are so many every day, If we aren’t talking about how to fix this then why post about it? It just makes those of us who act like frum jews resentful to the rest of the community. Maybe TLS should post once a week, one post with all the accidents of that week. Maybe if people start actually seeing the extent of how bad this is it will have a small impact. Seeing a post with showing 50+ accidents that happened that week may have more of an impact than one by one
The speed limit needs to be lowered on New Hamshire & drivers need to be focused at all times on Lakewood streets. Smartphones are literally causing death & injury on Lakewood roads. I have had several “almost” head on collisions with distracted drivers on our roads, B”H I was focused on the road & noticed in time to honk & move to the side.
The planning department of this town have caused the roads to be too congested to be used safely. Every drive is a dangerous, time wasting, & stressful experiece. We need change at the leadership level if anything will be improved. Those who endorsed the candidates over the last 20 years without calling them to task are also responsible in my opinion.
