  1. I’d like to share my experience at the BBQ. It was wonderful in that my wife doesn’t allow us to eat Chometz in or out of the house starting from Shushan Purim but she made an exception since we were traveling a long distance.
We prefer to stay home but we were invited to a “Seder of Achdus” made up of families from different Chasidic sects & Charedi Yeshivas. On the road we read from the Seder guide about the importance of Achdus & being accepting of Yidden different than us.
The plan was to Daven Mincha & get back on the road. It took sometime to get a Minyan (me & my 2 Bar Mitzvah sons helped a lot) but it was finally announced we had 10 men. However, looking around I immediately became very uncomfortable. My sons & I quickly exited to the other side of the parking lot to Daven B’Yichidus. My son noticed what I did & asked, “Tatty, why is that Goy wearing a doily coaster on his head & why does he want to Daven Mincha?”
I told him, “I don’t know but I’ve found bugs in lettuce bigger than what that man was wearing.”
B”H we averted a compromising situation. I could see it made my boys very anxious so I told them not to focus on the trip but on the destination where Achdus will reign supreme.

  2. One of my highlights traveling for pesach, is the fact that we have the I80 bbq to stop by. Not only does it give our family a time to relax and take a break, it’s a real kiddush hashem where so many walks of life that are traveling for Yom Tov stop as well. Especially in these times, where we need to show ourselves and the rest of the world what real achdus really means, this is definitely the best way to show it. Thank you to all of those that made this bbq happen. May Hashem pay you back for all of your wonderful work!
