Members of the New Jersey State Police recently visited young patients at Hackensack Meridian K. Hovnanian Children’s Hospital at Jersey Shore University Medical Center (JSUMC) in Neptune.

Troopers handed out toys and posed for photos, creating moments of joy for families navigating a hospital stay.

“Healing is about more than just medicine. It’s about nurturing a child’s spirit and giving families a reason to smile,” said Jessica Scerbo, MD, chair of pediatrics at JSUMC and Hackensack Meridian Health’s southern region. “When members of the New Jersey State Police take the time to connect with our kids, it transforms the entire atmosphere of the hospital. It reminds these young patients that everyday heroes are cheering them on, and we are deeply grateful for their incredible compassion and continued support.”
