PHOTOS: Officer narrowly escapes serious injury as he runs from falling pole and wires; Driver stuck in vehicle

A Lakewood police officer suffered minor injuries when he tripped running from a falling pole and wires.

The officer was on a road job on Somerset Avenue when a truck took down a pole and live wires, sending the officer running from the danger. The officer tripped while running, suffering minor injuries.

The truck driver was trapped in his vehicle as he waited for the electric company to defuse the power lines.

A resident tells TLS he was riding his bike when he saw wires falling. He quickly dropped his bike and ran.

  1. Thank G-d the police officer is safe. The biker would have been safer to stay on the bike and head the other way. The tires could potentially insulate him from the ground like the truck.
