UPDATED: LPD SWAT Team Converges on Motel Following Carjacking in Lakewood [VIDEO & PHOTOS]

UPDATE 8:35pm: Lakewood Police say Lakewood resident Harold Galloway, 52, was charged with Carjacking, Theft and Possession of CDS in connection with this morning’s carjacking.

He is awaiting transport to the Ocean County Jail.

Lakewood’s SRT Team is investigating after carjacking in Lakewood this morning.

The carjacking happened at the New Jersey Transit bus terminal in Lakewood.

Police tell TLS the vehicle involved with the carjacking was located at the Carasaljo Inn on Madison Avenue, and may have been a drug deal gone bad. The suspect appears to be barricaded inside a room.

UPDATE: Police tell TLS at least one suspect is in custody.

“Information developed led investigators to the Carasaljo Inn located at the corner of Rt 9 and 5th Street,” police said. “Believing that the suspect was in one of the hotel rooms, the Lakewood Police Department Special Response Team was deployed. Upon obtaining a search warrant the suspect, a 52-year-old Lakewood man, was ordered to exit the room, to which he complied. A second person was also taken into custody.

“At this time the investigation is still active and additional information will be released when it becomes available.”
