The Lakewood Fire Department’s Special Operations Unit was hard at work last night, joining Berkeley HazMat and the New Jersey State Police HazMat Unit at All Chem for a hands-on joint training exercise.
Crews tackled two challenging evolutions: a confined space rescue and a leaking tank scenario, the kind of high-risk calls that demand seamless teamwork across agencies.
“Training alongside our partner agencies allows us to strengthen communication, improve coordination, and learn from one another in a controlled environment,” the department said.
“A big thank you to All Chem for working with us and helping provide these valuable training opportunities,” the department added. “We appreciate the continued cooperation and commitment from all agencies involved in making this training possible.”

Thank you to all these agencies, and thank you to the Lakewood Fire Department for constantly preparing for scenarios and incidents; that most places wouldn’t know how to deal with properly.
