The Jackson Mills Volunteer Fire Company #1 opened its doors Sunday for its Fire Prevention Open House, welcoming families to the firehouse at 465 North County Line Road for an afternoon of trucks, demos and community.
Visitors got an up-close look at the company’s fleet, including its ladder truck flying the American flag overhead, its engines, and the department’s antique J.M.F.D. rig, alongside Jackson Township EMS and Jackson Mills Fire Department vehicles.
The New Jersey Forest Fire Service brought a brush truck and wildfire-prevention materials, Chaverim Emergency Services of Central Jersey was on hand with its Search & Rescue vehicles and tent, and the MERK mobile emergency response kitchen was on site.
The free event, which ran from 11 AM to 3 PM, featured a bounce house, hayrides, hands-on fire extinguisher demonstrations, hot dogs and ice cream, kosher pizza sponsored by the firefighters union, kids’ t-shirts and live music by Rich Villalva, along with a volunteer firefighter information booth for residents interested in joining the company.
