The driver of a vehicle that overturned on Lanes Mill Road on Friday said his vehicle was recalled for a steering issue, according to an official on scene.

The official says the driver emerged from the overturned vehicle and stated that it was recently brought to a shop due to a recall for a steering issue, but the shop was out of the part at the time.

It was reportedly that very issue that caused the driver to crash through a utility pole around 6 PM Friday, landing his vehicle on its side on a Newport Drive lawn, the official said.

The driver emerged from the vehicle with minor injuries.

Area residents report to TLS they lost power due to the crash, and that it took crews until 10 AM Saturday to complete the repairs.
