PHOTOS: Electric scooter sets Lakewood DPW truck on fire; Wires struck as truck dumps load in street

A Lakewood DPW truck needed to dump its trash load in middle of the street after it caught fire.

An electric scooter thrown into the trash truck reportedly set the trash ablaze.

The truck immediately dumped its load onto Congress Street, striking wires in the process.

Police have shut down the area for repairs and cleanup.

I think showing close up pictures of people’s garbage spilled onto the street is very disrespectful and should be removed.

Why? do you recognize that milk bottle or perhaps the box of beer? Aaah, the bleach bottle. Yes. that’s truly an embarrasing artifact.

Just remove the lithium battery 1st before disposal. Biezrat Hashem, that should solve the problem.

Did anyone else notice the box in the photo? Are we also blaming this on Corona?

Who in their right mind would think a electric scooter should be thrown in the recyclable can? Township needs to do random inspections and fine people for nonsense like that.

Because of the scooters, people are not burning calories! Although they can have their time and place.

I’m a lady, and you know it’s not common sense for everyone that lithiuanium batteries are not to be recycled. Aren’t they metal based?
