PHOTOS: Just minutes after being found unresponsive, a drug overdose victim walked to the ambulance after being revived with Narcan, police confirm.
Police and Lakewood First Aid were dispatched to the Lakewood home around 2 PM, and upon arrival found a 32-year-old Toms River man unresponsive and barely breathing from an apparent drug overdose, Detective Greg Staffordsmith says.
“Further investigation, revealed that the man was visiting friends and is believe to have ingested heroin causing him to collapse,” Staffordsmith says.
That’s when Officer Jason Debartolomeis grabbed his Narcan kit and together with Lakewood First Aid members administered the nasal spray to the patient.
Moments later, the patient was alert and conscious, and then with emergency personnel walked to the waiting ambulance, witnesses tell TLS.
He was transported by Lakewood First Aid to Monmouth Medical Center Southern Campus for further evaluation.

Great another drug addict back on the streets
our tax dollars …. hard at work
Why is he a victim ?
Chevra kadisha wasnt needed
The police officer was doing his job. Saving lives is what they are trained to do.
You people are so cruel
This is a huge victory
Kudos to Lakewood First Aid
People on drugs are just broken people not to b disposed of
They just saved a life
Blows my mind how people say that he shouldn’t have been saved or complain about the tax dollars being used for Narcab treatment. What if that was your son/brother/uncle/friend??? I’m sure you wouldn’t be saying the same thing. Yes, we have a serious drug problem but being an addict does not mean you deserve to die. God bless all those involved and for saving a life
to number 7, yes, you make a good point.
but what happens when this fellow attacks my son/brother/uncle/friend on the streets and steals his wallet when he needs more drugs?
