A Lakewood boy got his stolen bike back, thanks to TLS.
A neighbor who viewed the footage of the theft spotted a man in the neighborhood with the bike, and asked the suspect if it was his bike. Upon being confronted, the suspect began fleeing with the bike, but eventually dropped it and ran.
The neighbor called police to retrieve the bike and file the report.
The father of the boy submitted the following letter to us.
Dear Lakewood Scoop,
I want to thank you for your assistance, together with the wonderful and dedicated Lakewood police officers and detectives. It’s because of you were able to have a happy ending and recovery of our son’s bicycle.
An astute and alert neighboring resident and local hero Danny G. (pictured left) recognized both the perpetrator and my son’s bike from the exclusive footage which was provided to the Lakewood Scoop (by Pinny Werner of PM Security).
He immediately contacted the Police department, and they came down to the scene immediately.
The Lakewood Police department ensured the safe return of my son’s bike in the most expedient and courteous way.
A special thank you to Officer Sorriano and Detective Lopez who were very gracious in assisting Danny G. so that the bike was returned before Shabbos.
Thanks again for putting up the footage, which was the catalyst for Danny and the Police Department to identify both the bicycle and the perpetrator.
Ummmm, just watched the video in the link and I don’t know how anyone could recognize a face from that footage. It was way too dark
But still a cool story.
Nice. they got the bike back on a short notis! !
Interesting… I have video cameras in my house and my son’s bike was stolen too. We contacted the police just moments later. We told the officer the direction the suspect had driven and instead of going to see if he can find the suspect, the officer sat on the corner of our street and started pulling people over. Very disappointing….
We had it worse. We had footage & we actually found where the guy lives, but the cops wouldn’t pursue it.
