Two people were killed and at least one other seriously injured in an accident on Route 37 in Toms River this afternoon.

The accident occurred shortly after noon, near Hospital Driver.

Two vehicles were involved in the accident, with one of the vehicles overturned onto its side.

Route 37 eastbound between Hospital Drive and the Parkway is shut, police said. Route 37 westbound between Hospital Drive and the Parkway is only one lane.
