The Lakewood Police Department has begin issuing printed warnings in place of summonses for certain violations, TLS has learned.
The warning, similar to those issued by other departments, will be used at the officer’s discretion for warning motorists of parking violations before issuing a real summons, officials say.
The warning, pictured, will primarily be used in areas known for problematic parking issues, in hopes of correcting the issue while enhancing the quality of life for neighbors.
Similar warnings are issued by other departments for moving violations as well, but there is no word if the LPD intends to introduce it anytime soon.
Currently in Lakewood, when officers decide to warn a motorist instead of issuing a summons, it is done so verbally.
