Jersey Central Power & Light (JCP&L) has named John Meehan to its external affairs team to serve as area manager for portions of Monmouth and Ocean counties. Meehan replaces Pete Johner who recently retired.
JCP&L area managers serve as external affairs liaisons with elected officials and support community involvement activities. They are located in regional offices across the company’s service area to provide closer proximity to and understanding of the unique issues that face each community they serve. Meehan’s office is located in Lakewood.
Meehan spent the last four years working in the New Jersey governor’s office, serving as senior policy advisor for the lieutenant governor and senior government relations advisor in the Department of Labor and Workforce Development. Prior to working for the state he worked for the Steamfitters Local Union 475.
“John’s knowledge, experience in government relations and background as a union tradesman are assets that will serve to benefit municipal officials and customers,” said Mark Jones, vice president of External Affairs, JCP&L. “He will be an important addition to the JCP&L external affairs team.”
Meehan attended Bergen County Community College. He was born and raised in North Arlington, New Jersey. He currently resides in Toms River and serves as a member of the Toms River Board of Adjustment.
JCP&L is a subsidiary of FirstEnergy Corp. (NYSE: FE). JCP&L serves 1.1 million New Jersey customers in the counties of Burlington, Essex, Hunterdon, Mercer, Middlesex, Monmouth, Morris, Ocean, Passaic, Somerset, Sussex, Union and Warren.
