VIDEO: ETC Steakhouse Celebrates Lakewood Opening with Private Hatzolah Dinner

VIDEO: During the kitchen renovation leading up to ETC Steakhouse’s Lakewood opening, one of their employees was severely burned when an oven malfunctioned. A ball of fire leaped out of the oven and burned the upper third of his body and face. He was rushed by Hatzolah to the St. Barnabas Burn Center in Livingston.

So the staff at the new steakhouse in Lakewood thought it was most befitting to celebrate the opening of the new restaurant by honoring the Hatzolah members with a private pre-opening dinner.

Seth Warshaw, arguably the number one Kosher chef in the Country, has opened a restaurant in Lakewood with his partner, Yisachar Dov Novoseller – the proprietor of ETC Steakhouse in Teaneck, NJ.

Warshaw, the executive chef and partner in ETC Steakhouse in Teaneck New Jersey – and whom articles appear about in the New York Times and other papers and websites – has raised the bar in kosher cuisine.

“He has won iron man cooking competitions, and has been invited as a judge as well,” says Novoseller. “Seth is a unique individual – he regularly, and by popular demand, gives cooking classes and demonstrations to his clients and others.”

Warshaw was invited numerous times as the demonstrating chef at De Gustibus cooking school in New York, says Novoseller, and his demonstrations were always sold out.

“He proudly shares his secrets, and hopes to continue that tradition in Lakewood,” says Novoseller.

Members of Lakewood Hatzolah on Tuesday evening were the first to enjoy the Tasting Menu comprised of lamb belly, sweetbreads, tongue, duck and much more – all served with wine. The restaurant offers a traditional entree menu as well.

“ETC Steakhouse in Teaneck has earned its reputation by consistently offering delectable, beautifully presented creations, at a modest price point, and we look forward to expanding our reputation at our new location,” says Novoseller.

The employee who was injured during in the explosion incident was on hand during the private Hatzolah dinner – which served as a token of appreciation for the members’ lifesaving duties, and also served as a Seudas Hodaah. The medical staff at the burn center commented that because of Hatzolah’s immediate response, and proper treatment, the employee is expected to make a full recovery.

The restaurant is located at 95 East Kennedy Boulevard, in the Shlomys Plaza. [TLS]

  1. ETC is from the best restaurants I have ever visited! The food is perfect, and the chefs creations are true art! Thanks for saving me the long drive to Teaneck by bringing ETC to our backyard!!

  2. We are all soooooooooooooooo proud of you Seth!!! Mazal tov on the new venture and Hashem should bless you, your family and the NovieS with only brachah and hatlochah!!!!!!!!!

Thank you Hatzolah for your continued amazing and selfless service to the entire community!

  3. Going out for dinner is NOT gashmius. It is ruchniyus, for those who have a great marriage and like to make their wives/husbands happy. This is a big mitzvah.

Those who don’t want any spice in their marriage get nothing from going out to eat, so for them going out to eat is just gashmius – stuffing their fat bellies.

  4. This new restaurant is an absolute Kiddush Hashem. Many people in Lakewood, Man and Women, work long hours to support their familes. This establishment with their incredible food, ambience, and service may provide Chizuk for many. Wishing you Much Hatzlacha.

  5. This is great news… My wife and I have gone to Teanek countless times to eat in ETC. Their steaks (and all their dishes) rival anything in NYC, KM”L anything available in Lakewood, even with the newest additions (which we tried as well)

I wish the new owners much success!

  6. It’s amazing how people are able to convince themselves of such utter nonsense. Not commenting on the rights or wrongs of eating in a restaurant, but to call it a kiddush Hashem or a Mitzvah, or as one post called it ‘ruchnius’ – a lot of people need some brushing up to know the meaning of kiddush Hashem and what constitutes a Mitzvah and how ruchnius is defined. What a joke!

  7. Reply to 22 – its needed, to offset other stupid comments, like it’s ‘Gashmius’. Both are ridiculous but I think the ‘ruchnius’ comment, was showing the ridiculousness of the ‘gashmuis’ one.

  8. Many things people do in their lives can be for Hashem, it’s all a matter of how and why the person is doing it. It is a great aspiration to be able to convert “gashmiyus”, regular acts into “ruchniyus”.

  9. Cool Masmid…
    Yeah…
The name says it all. He will lecture on on ruchniyus and gashmiyus while posting his thoughts on the Internet.
Oh, Cool “Masmid”, is the Internet ruchniyus or gashmiyus?

  10. Food was great. Seth had shown why he is one if the masters in a kitchen good luck on taking over the reserve and for those interested the young man greeting you and catering for you was the fellow burnt.
