so this is the woman who gave birth to and raised such a staunch Chossid, Ba’al Chessed, and Ba’al Bitachon!
I remember her from Crown Restaurant on 13th Ave.
Wow; what a tzadeikis. I remember in the 80’s & 90’s she was there during the day, raggedy, smelly Yiddin used to sit there by the front tables being served huge plates of spaghetti & meatballs & other stuff Free of Charge, she wasn’t concerned about losing customers as a result, chesed was #1 by her.
At that time I had a booming business with a small factory, not every night did I go home to Lakewood, when I slept over in Boro Park I used to go in to Crown Restaurant about 10 pm all dirty & exhausted from doing lab/factory work of which the manager there thought I was very poor so he used to pack me up a shopping bag of delicious barbecue chicken, potato kinish’s meat kinishe’s galarituh etc enough for a family & he said: “give me $5” & sometimes even $3. It was real good heimische food.
