A person walking on the tracks in Lakewood was robbed and then assaulted by men possibly carrying a knife, police said today.
At about 4:45pm yesterday, Officer Jon Pederson responded to Ocean Avenue in reference to a man that was reportedly robbed.
Upon arrival, Officer Pederson located a 42 year old Lakewood man who was bleeding from his nose. The victim stated that he was just robbed along a section of railroad tracks just off Ocean Avenue.
He stated that while he was walking he was approached by two unidentified men. One of the men, described as a black male, approximately 6’2″, bald with a beard and wearing a black hooded sweatshirt and blue jeans, demanded his wallet.
After the victim complied, he stated that he was then assaulted by both suspects, the second, described also as a black male, 5’10” wearing a red hat and a dark colored jacket.
According to the victim, one of the suspects may have had a weapon, possibly a knife. Both men fled on foot prior to police arrival.
As a result of his injuries, the victim was transported to Monmouth Medical Southern Campus for treatment.
