PBA Local 71 To Host 2 Winter Charity Events

The PBA Local 71 will be hosting two events in the coming weeks to benefit charity and the less fortunate in the Lakewood community, PBA President Officer Gary Przewoznik tells TLS.

The first event, ‘Hoops For Hunger’, will feature a basketball game betweek members of the PBA and mmebers of the Piners team. The game will be held on November 13 at the Lakewood High School, at 6 PM. Admission to the game is a can of food or $1, which will be donated to local food banks.

The second event will be the PBA’s annual Winter Coat Drive.

The Coat Drive, now in it’s third year, benefits the homeless and less-fortunate Lakewood residents by distributing free coats and other clothing items ahead of the Winter season.

During last year’s coat event, the officers gave away over 250 coats.

The event this year will take place on November 16, at Red Square, at 12 noon.

Donations – such as new or gently used coats and other winter clothing, can be dropped off at the Lakewood Police Headquarters, 231 Matlosz Way.

  1. Hello all,
Thank you TLS for helping promote our up coming events. The Lakewood Police P.B.A. Local No. 71 will be playing the Lakewood School District Teachers Association in a charity basketball game. The game is “Hoops for Hunger” and we are playing to raise donations for some of our local food pantries before the holidays. The event will be held on November 13th at 6pm on the Lakewood High School Basketball Court. Everyone is welcome, entry to event is a canned good or a $1 person. Children under 5 are admitted free. Come out and join us for a good cause.

Our second event will be held on Friday November 16th, at 12 noon. We will be holding our Third Annual Open-Air Chili and Soup Kitchen and Winter Coat Drive. We are currently collecting new and gently worn winter coats and jackets. They can be dropped off at the Lakewood Police Department at 231 Third Street, at the Watch Commanders Office. We will be collecting them until Nov. 15th. We could use childrens coats as well. Last year we gave out over 1,000 coats and 10 gallons of chicken soup. I am hoping we can give out even more this year, so come friends, help us help those that are in need of a warm winter coat this year.
As always, we thank you all for your continued support.
    Gary Przewoznik,
    P.B.A. Local No. 71
