Parts Of Lakewood Lose Power As Nor’easter Moves In; Snow, Strong Winds Expected

UPDATED: Parts of Lakewood are out of power again, just days after getting power restored from the devastating Hurricane Sandy.Parts of Park Avenue and Ridge Avenue are among the areas which lost power moments ago.

According to the National Weather Service, Lakewood will get 2-4 inches of snow, and possibly more.

Strong winds of up to 65 MPH will give the snowfall a blizzard-like feel, and trees weekend by the Hurricane are likely to do some more damage.

As of this morning, JCPL was about 2,000 customers away from restoring all of Lakewood from the Sandy outages, but that number again climbed to over 3,600.

The storm is expected to last into tomorrow morning, and a Coastal Flooding warning is in effect until 8 PM on Thursday. TLS.

  1. WE LOST POWER ON PARK AVE. POWER WENT ON AND OFF AND THEN JUST – WELL… PLAIN OFF. ANYONE KNOW WHEN IT CAN GO UP BACK ON.
P.S I JUST GOT BACK THE POWER MONDAY NIGHT AND NOW THIS?
MAYBE IT HAS SOMETHING TO DO WITH OBAMA BEING RE-ELECTED!?

  2. I once heard that if there is a gizayra of Golus chas vesholom. The mitzvah of succah will suffice do to the discomfort of living in the succah. I can’t believe how I ran out of the succah and I didn’t even sleep there at all.

  3. Power on Clifton is out because they thought the problem was the same as the area. When they switched on the power on Monday and clifton didn’t go on, they realized it was a different issue. They figured out the issue yesterday. It’s an underground cable next to classy cakes. They need to first see what is needed and order it to fix it. Should be within a day or so.

  4. ONLY HASHEM HAS POWER, we might have electricity in our homes (hopefully) but Hashem runs the world (not obama neither the gedolei hador or anyone else)

REMEMBER this & then you will always turn to Hashem for help in your time of need

may you not need to call out to hashem for help. i.e. if you daven & talk to hashem from your heart then Hashem will not need to put you into a test & send you a reminder to call out to Hashem for help

  5. Where is stern and slomawits to get the power back on their the only 1ns that seem to get it done stern and slomwitz and Steve for comtee and wel get things done finely

  6. these comments are so crazy
yes its hard to be without power
but think of all those people who lost their homes
or the people who are going to be in the dark for weeks

  7. Please note the correct spelling of lose as “aveida” or “hefsed”. If you are a loser, your pants will be looser!! To lose – verb! Loose – adjective! To loosen – verb. Lost – adjective. Got it, or are you lost?

  8. It looked like a few transformers exploded in westgate and then we lost power. It looks like they r working on it by the garages. Call anyway.

  9. presidential, sterling place, regency estates, chateau park, chesterfield, chestnut, todd plaza and lakewood commons are the places i’m aware of that are down, probably many more!

  10. Important Message:
To all that have eruv strings weighed down by snow- rattle pole or hit string with stick so snow falls off & save lines from destruction.

  11. New England Village is without power. (That’s the development that is boarded by James St and Sunset Rd)
But having no power is only a temporary inconvenience. Take a moment (or more) to think about our neighbors in other parts of Ocean County who have lost their homes and all of their belongings! Put some perspective in the situation. I’m a bit chilly right now but I can put on another layer of my clothes or put another of my blankets around me…. There are many who can not put their own things on!
    This too shall pass!
