Despite pleas from Township officials to postpone work requiring the closure of County Line Road during prime daytime hours, the County says the work needs to be done tomorrow.
TLS spoke with the County Engineer who said the gas company and other utility companies will be moving a gas line tomorrow for the placement of other utilities – an operation crucial before the weather gets colder.
Lakewood officials met with the companies and the County in an effort to postpone the project – and even discussed paying for additional overtime for weekend work, but were explained the urgency of the matter and left with no option.
Asked why it can’t be performed on a weekend, the Engineer explained that the essential personnel for this project would not be available during the weekend.
The road will be shut approximately between Brook Road and Park Avenue from 9:30 AM Wednesday, until the project is complete. The work could last all day.

Unbelievable. You would think most road repairs would be done over a weekend. And someone working on a Rd crew would be willing to work nights and weekends. This will be a nightmare on a very busy traveling day.
Total non sense. The crew isn’t available on weekends? So make them available. Pay them x2 and they’ll be available.
Disaster for those that live and work there! Everyone just stay home or use a bike.
Maybe we can get the trump plane to do some shuttling back and forth

Yes, baruch Hashem the Vaad has arranged for helicopter shuttles from the Lakewood Airport to wherever you need to go. There will also be bus shuttles to and from various locations around town to transport those in need to the airport. The shuttle and helicopter is being sponsored as part of the Pesach/Succos Roberts carnival.

this area been closed one way on Friday mornings- the few hours when everyone is rushing to /from playgroup, running to the store for a quick shabbos thing. second week in a row i’ve seen this. no peep about that??
To all those complaining…….it’s called radical acceptance! you may not like the inconvenience of detouring so the county can fix YOUR roads but man up and move on with life
