A man and a woman say they were robbed at gunpoint in Lakewood over the weekend, Detective Sergeant Greg Staffordsmith says.
At approximately 3 p.m. on December 20, a 30-year-old Brielle man and 23-year-old Lakewood woman reported that the were robbed at gunpoint when they stopped by a local Madison Avenue motel.
“The victims told police that they had stopped by to visit a friend, when a male, they describe as black male wearing a white hooded sweatshirt, walked up to the window of the car and put a gun to the female’s head,” Staffordsmith says. “As he demanded money, a second black male, with “dreadlocks” is said to have also been standing with the suspect.”
The victims handed over approximately $250 to the men, Staffordsmith says. The suspects then ran into separate motel rooms.
“Although Det. Eric Cicerello is actively investigating the reported robbery, several unrelated arrests were made.”
Anyone with information pertaining to the robbery is asked to contact Det. Eric Cicerello at 732-363-0200 ext 5344.
