Opinion: Real Abuse of Power | Shlomo Rudman

Democrats will soon hold a vote in the House of Representatives to impeach President Trump for abuse of power and obstruction of Congress. Political opponents of President Trump allege that he abused his power for seeking a Ukrainian investigation into his likely 2020 rival Joe Biden.

There was good reason to request an investigation into Biden and his son Hunter’s business dealings in Ukraine, but somehow, because he is Trump’s political opponent, asking for such an investigation is an abuse of power. Sure, whatever.

But if you want to see what real abuse of power is, simply take a look at how Intelligence Committee Chairman Adam Schiff, Judiciary Chairman Jerry Nadler, and Senator Chuck Schumer – three of the most powerful Jews in America – have conducted themselves throughout this impeachment process.

What we are seeing from them is nothing short of shocking. Here we have a president who has been kinder to the Jewish people than perhaps any other in history. Yet, due to political concerns, these three Jewish Congressmen want to have him kicked out of office over a minor transgression in which no crime was committed.

Instead of even promoting President Trump’s stance on issues relating to Jewish people, Schiff, Nadler, and Schumer have instead attacked him incessantly, saying that he welcomes racism and bigotry in the United States. Their behavior is treasonous both to the United States – by attacking a man trying to tame rising hate and bigotry – and their Jewish brethren, who rely on people like them to take a stand against true anti-Semitic hatred.

If you want to see what standing up to anti-Semitism should look like, see how Jersey City Mayor Steve Fulop, also a Jewish Democrat, has responded following the horrific shooting in his city last week. Fulop has publicly embraced any and all people who are willing to fight against the hatred and bigotry that was seen on full display in Jersey City. He even publicly thanked President Trump and Attorney General Bill Barr for their support during these difficult times. That’s how a true leader acts.

In this time of increasing anti-Semitism, we need Jewish leaders to stand up for those who fight back against racists and anti-Semites. We need politicians who have the backbone to do what is right and defend the Jewish people, who have suffered for thousands of years at the hands of evildoers, from those very animals. When powerful Jews instead choose to use their clout to have a pro-Jewish president kicked out of the Oval Office for nothing more than political gain, that is using the power bestowed upon you for perverse purposes.

That is the real abuse of power.

Or is it Donald “cant disavow david Duke” Trump?
“There was plenty of reason to investigate hunter biden” yeah but for some reason noone else besides trump in the administration thought so and there was not one other corruption issue that trump asked any foreign power to investigate in 3 years!

  3. The Orthodox Jewish Community here in America should make it loud and Clear to America and the Rest of the World that we Support President Donald Trump and Are Thankful for all that he has done Here in Anerica and abroad and we are against this whole impeachment Process

  4. Z, Huh? Why should he ask any other country to investigate corruption, based on what? This involved the U.S. the new president of Ukraine just won an election and vowed to weed out corruption. Trump knew about corruption involving the U.S. and was asking him to investigate it. Tell me about corruption involving the u.s. in other countries and we can investigate that too. The fact that Biden is running is irrelevant, if he did something wrong that would come out in this investigation then it’s his problem and he deserves whatever effect it has on his image. In fact, he admitted to doing a quid pro quo himself. Trump has been investigated to a pulp and zero evidence of anything. Have a good day liberal progressive haters.

  5. Klal Yisrael,
Should Jews really splinter into groups? Should Jews start denouncing each other? Especially as Anti-Semitism is rising?
This happened before, 2,000 years ago. When faced with pressure from the Romans instead of working together Jews split into competing groups with different political and religious outlooks (Perushim, Tzidookim, Essenes, and many smaller ones) that turned on each other. This resulted in the destruction of the Bais Hamikdash.
That’s why Chazal say the Bais Hamikdash was destroyed due to Sinas Chinam. They were 100% correct. Do we really want to make that mistake again?
