PHOTOS: One person was injured in a 5-car pileup accident on River Avenue a short time ago. After a vehicle crashed into the rear of the school bus near Presidential Estates, rubbernecking reportedly caused a third vehicle to crash into the second one, as police arrived. Two other vehicles then added to the mess.
The school bus was full of children, but none were injured, a witness on scene says.
The injured of one of the vehicles was transported to KMC.
A multi-vehicle accident earlier on River Avenue sent a child to Kimball Hospital as well. (That incident was only reported on our News Alerts).
i drove through lakewood today, and let me tell you = what a mess.
i drove on route9 from dover, all the way to pine st. i literally felt as if i was driving through brooklyn. lakewood’s roadways & infrastructure can not handle more cars & people. it took me 35minutes from the lakewood/dover boarder to pine street. thats just absurd.
Did the bus have their flashing yellow lights on before it came to a stop and then the red lights?
If Mr. Bush would have widend RT 9 this never would have happened
Route 9 would need to be widened with State funds, funds never forthcoming because we are a red city in a red county in a blue state, forever punished by those controlling the purse in Trenton.
To #2-here we go….It doesn’t matter if the yellow or red lights were on, on the bus there is no reason to rear end it. Maybe the bus was stopped because there was traffic in front of it. I am getting tired of people always blaming the driver of the bus. YES there are bad bus drivers but that is about 1 in 100 out of lakewoods bus drivers.
#6 I would have to disagree with your 1 in 100 bad drivers, it is probably more like 20 to 25 out of hundred!
I live in Lakewood, not in Town. I would drive an hour or more to avoid it. It seems there are no Zoning Laws in this Town. What a mess.
Is the word rubbernecking the new meaning to texting while driving?
To #8 “Rubbernecking” refers to looking at the scenery aka” Sightseeing” instead of keeping your eyes on the road in front of you,
rt 9 needs 4 lanes already
