  1. Who says the vehicles involved were people that lived in Lakewood

Perhaps they were from somewhere else in NY and NJ heading to some destination like Toms River or Altalantic city and got into an accident in Lakewood which could have just as well happened in Howell or Freehold or anywhere else along their route.

  2. I don’t know the details. But I noticed many times during the past number of years, that many drivers, when they see a yellow light, THEY HIT THE PEDAL TO THE METAL.

  3. this is a State highway and he should be investing more in the infrastructure and acquiring the necessary land through eminent domain to widen this and other routes to create safe corridors through New Jersey’s towns and neighborhoods

  4. This is so sad. That area around Aisle 9 is terrible, with cars constantly attempting to leave the parking lot while other cars are driving 45+ down Madison. They need to install more traffic lights on Madison, both for cars turning and for pedestrians. May the injured have a full recovery. Please drive safe everyone.

  5. everyone please stop think for a minute .this cant go on.

[a Hatzalah man once told me ]it doesn’t matter who was driving
remember it was an accident- it was an accident –
    so lets forget about that.

Can we all take a second and CLIC that seatbelt .
SLOW down by a yellow light .
don’t TEXT while you drive .
pay ATTENTION to your surroundings .
please its happening to much to much pain for me

    .

    • It is not an accident if someone was speeding, texting, on their phone, or making illegal turns. (all happening daily in Lakewood). Those things are purposeful.

  6. “It doesn’t matter who was driving”: What kind of a statement is that? The who that was driving might have caused the accident. We’re never going to know.

  7. Many people have requested Lakewood police to issue more tickets and their response has been that they are to involved in many other issues. I believe for the health and well-being of the thousands of people living in this town, that we should request a permanent presence of the state police here in our streets.

    • I’d suggest that as an alternative to summons, Police should issue mandatory hours of driving courses for violators. People would actually learn how to drive better and about the dangers of careless driving.

  8. Most serious accidents that happen on Route 9 and Route 88 and Route 70 do NOT involve Lakewood Drivers or members of the Community

They are for the most part Drivers from out of State or other parts of NJ traveling thru Lakewood to get to their Destination

It you look at a Map you will see that Lakewood is situated at a Major Highway Midpoint for Route 9 and the Parkway and many other State Highways and so it is heavily used as a thoroufare

    So Stop Blaming Lakewood Drivers

Most Fatal accidents in Lakewood are Usually lone Drunk Drivers on Saturday night Passing thru Lakewood

  9. For those who love to bash “Lakewood” drivers, note that this unfortunate accident happened before 9pm. Most homes had just made Havdalah and weren’t really out and about yet…

  10. Goose Gossage is incredibly distraught by this tragic news and highly recommends everyone to call your elected officials and demand eminent domain be enforced for the entire portion of River Ave to create 2 lanes.

    Gossage out!

  11. This accident happened rt 9 Madison Ave correct? It doesn’t matter who was driving the vehicle if any drivers using a cell phone or trying to beet the traffic light cuz they are always in a rush this will happen to anyone when driving put your phones down
