A 46-year-old Neptune man has been charged in connection with a home invasion at a Lakewood apartment that left one person injured, officials say.
Police responded to an apartment on John Street at approximately 7:30 a.m. on Saturday, October 24, after receiving a report of a home invasion involving two victims. One of the victims sustained injuries and was transported to Ocean Medical Center for treatment.
An investigation by Lakewood Police detectives led to the identification of Gregory Z. Jones, 46, of Neptune, as the suspect.
Jones was charged with home invasion, two counts of robbery, aggravated assault, possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose, and unlawful possession of a weapon.
“Violent crimes like this are taken very seriously,” Lakewood Police Chief Gregory H. Meyer said. “Our officers and detectives worked to identify the individual responsible and bring criminal charges. We will continue doing everything we can to keep our residents and neighborhoods safe.”
The investigation remains ongoing.
