MUA To Postpone 18% Late Fee Until January

mua new building tlsAfter residents expressed their outrage with the new 18% late fee from the MUA which began this month without notifying customers, the water company has cancelled the new fee – but don’t get too excited just yet – it’s just until January. This past Friday, TLS posted the outrage of a local school administrator when he called the MUA to pay a bill, only to find out that there was an extra charge on his bill – 18% to be exact.

When the administrator inquired about the fee and why they customers weren’t notified about it, the response he got from the MUA employee was, that they didn’t feel it was necessary to notify the customers.

The new 18% late fee will instead take effect January.

  1. BIG DEAL !! its still an outragious fee . not condoning paying bills late but we allhave a one point or another let some things get past us I would say a more fair fee would be if you are late more than two quarters in a row then charge the fee.

  2. YEA right who’s paying for tht work being done, again we the people, who didn’t ask for it to be done and then u slip an 18% hike in there without notice WOW who does that the people who can get away with it, justifing how?

  3. Now I moved and pay njawc a 45% “late fee” above what mua charges every month even if I pay ontime. Just be happy that your bills are 45% lower than the rest of lakewood. And stop complaining!
