For almanos and yesomim, Yom Tov lacks its luster. It’s a painful reminder of the missing person in their lives.
This Shavuos, 3,100 almanos and yesomim welcomed a Yom Tov that was warm in more ways than one. Misaskim delivered packages containing fresh flowers, delectable cheesecakes, smoothie blenders, inspiring books, and children’s games. Project Yedid’s heartwarming packages were the perfect complement to the warmth outside.
On Thursday night, Misaskim volunteers made 618 deliveries, in a mass effort to enhance the simchas Yom Tov for almanos and yesomim. The Shavuos distribution cost was $100,000+. Over 80 families in the Lakewood area alone received the beautiful packages.
The packages won’t ever erase the pain, but they can make the families feel less alone. As one almanah said, “Yom Tov comes, it’s hectic, I’m trying to be there for everyone… and then I find this package by the door. I can’t explain what this cheesecake did for me. How supported it made me feel.”
Project Yedid of Misaskim brings support to an entirely new level.
Reviving smiles. Restoring joy. Renewing hearts.
They should not put that sefer on the floor, it has Hashems name in it.
Beautiful Flowers, delicious cheese cake & the game and book sure come in handy during a 3 day Shabbos/Yom Tov.
Like the Torah and Gedolim say: we shouldn’t choose the biggest Mitzvah only; it may look like a small Mitzvah but HaShem counts it as the biggest Mitzvah.
