PHOTOS: A busload of children of Misameach families departed Lakewood yesterday for what was to be an action-packed day at the Newark Liberty International Airport. The trip – arranged by the New Jersey Chaplains Association and Port Authority Chaplain Mendy Carlebach – sent about 50 children and 20 adults to the airport, giving the group the opportunity to view and tour the various departments within the Port Authoritiy’s facilities throughout the airport.
During the approximately six hour trip which included lunch at a Port Authority lounge, the children also got to see the Port Authority’s emergency vehicles as well as the various pieces of equipment used at the airport.
Misameach, a volunteer cheer-up group, provides entertainment for hundreds of patients around Lakewood and the Tri-state area, through music and other activities throughout the year.
