Mesivta Of Eatontown Enjoys A Shabbos In The Catskills

mesivta of eatontown lag ba'omer(PHOTOS) This past week, the Mesivta of Eatontown traveled to the scenic campgrounds of Camp Govoah for a Yeshiva Shabbos of warmth, achdus, and aliya b’ruchniyus. Zemiros until late hours by the oneg on Friday night, learning shabbos afternoon, a Lag Ba’Omer bonfire on Motzaei Shabbos, and a Segway trip on Sunday were some of the high points of the memorable trip. Shabbos was wonderful, with singing, dancing, beautiful tefillos, and learning by all. The highlight of Shabbos afternoon was the “Ask the Rebbe” panel, where the bochurim were able to pose questions they had in an anonymous setting and receive answers that could help them. Ikkarim in emunah, bitachon, hanhagas haadam, and hashkafa were discussed, and Rabbeim and bochurim alike enjoyed the learning and she’ifa expressed during the conversations.

Motzaei Shabbos brought with it some sports, and preparations for the bonfire in honor of Rebbe Shimon’s hilula. First the Rabbeim and bochurim squared off in a friendly game of volleyball, in which the rabbeim won – but the sportsmanship and good middos shown by both sides made the game a beautiful Kiddush hashem. Then the Yeshiva moved onto the hadlaka, and gathered around the fifteen foot supervised bonfire to dance and sing. Rav Sender Kaszirer, the Rosh Yeshiva, exhorted the boys to remember they are “ashreichem” because of their Avichem Shebashamayim, and to feel what it means to be a Yid. After the fire burned down, the Mesivta moved on to its Melava Malka, and sang zemiros until almost dawn.

  1. Rabbi Kaszirer does wonderful work with his students. It is so nice to see how he puts so much into his students. A school like that is so valuble to so many kids. we should all give him much moral & financial support.
