  1. As a public school teacher and a private school parent we need to think about security in all our schools. It may not have been possible to prevent this tragedy but all our local schools can do much more to protect the safety of our children.

  2. Those poor babies. My heart aches for them and their families. The fact is that there is always going to be people with mental problems. I’m uncomfortable going to the malls also. But to kill children…

  3. And people on this forum balk as soon as police and ems plan for an event (Mass gathering) and told by many in the community to include the leaders. It is over dramatic and sends a wrong message. Maybe now people, we will take what our emergency services say, why the planning and do with reason and not just because they want to play.

this can happen anywhere and yes even in your own back yard.

  4. our grade schools (public is all I know about) are just waiting for something to happen. No concern has ever been given to them only the upper schools have security. I can only hope that something is done and nothing ever happpens.. Please protect our children

  5. If its what it takes to keep our children safe we may have to resort too.. Armed guards in schools, If they can afford them for prisons they can afford them for schools..every school has to have metal detectors at every door. if these monsters want to go around killing innocent children we have to be ready for them .. enough is enough no more innocent children should have to die me cause we didnt take measures to keep them safe ..Bless these children and there familys and the teachers and staff who died also .. its time to do what we have to do..Write congress let them know!!!

  6. My heart is broken for the families of the victims. As I was riding up to Monsey, listening to the radio and glancing at my own children from time to time, it was difficult to refrain from swelling with emotion. As a Jew we are well aware of the atrocities committed by the Nazi’s yemach shemam at whose hands over a million children were killed. This ‘man’ was no less an evil reincarnate of those beasts.
What made me take note was how indiscriminate were this beast’s actions (the media is reporting that he lived a “Goth” lifestyle). No matter the race, creed, color, religion… He killed them all. He killed God’s children. And at the end of the day, we must realize that we are ALL God’s children. We have different backgrounds. We have different religions. We vote differently based upon our polotical convictions. We live in diverse neigborhoods. But while we may disagree with each other in whatever area it is we are all God’s children. “In the image of God was man created.” And as such, we are to emulate His way and act with kindness and decency, man to his fellow. May the world finally know the Ultimate Peace and may the parents of these victims find strength during this difficult time and find solace in the knowledge that they are in the thoughts and prayers of every American citizen.

  7. What’s the diff between a “Shooter” or a “Gunman” the article keeps switching between the 2 – are they 2 diff people or are they the same and if so why diff names !?

  8. omg crazy story….not only to the families that had someone killed, but also to those that survived…i can only imagine what these people, especially the children, will have to live with for their entire lifetime…so sad

  9. Most people recoil in horror when they hear of these terrible acts against innocent children.
But not when Jewish children are concerned.
Dalal Mughrabi who participated in the bus shooting in North Israel when 37 including 12 children were killed was officially honored with street namings. Then there was Maalot when 21 children were killed: Merkaz Harav when 8 bochurim were killed in the Bais Hamedrash. At that time 84% of “palestinians” according to a poll were in support of the carnage.

On the last day of Chanukah a kick in the pants is in order how much we owe Hashem..

  10. I am very devastated by this story. What a terrible tragedy. My heart bleeds for all the poor victims and their families.
We are living in a very scary world filled with lots of nutcases. I know mayor Bloomberg has begun a campaign against guns. I honestly don’t think it’ll help a bit, just might make things worse.
Now we will never be able to bubble every kid, but we can take some measures.
    1. Security guards with a gun
    2. Double security doors where you need to be buzzed in twice to get in
    3. And ofcourse strengthen our faith and commitment to the one above. Hakodosh Baruch hu

  11. It’s only a matter of time until something like this happens at a school in brooklyn, monsey, kiryas joel et-al. There are so many souls wandering about, broken, angry, filled with murderous rage, lost and ressentful. These are all products of a horribly broken haredi (especially chassidish) ‘education’ system. A system rife with all kinds of abuse. I once knew a kid who was abused by his rebbe. He was always suicidal. He once confided in me that he could never stop fascinating about doing exactly what the Columbine shooters did. His thoughts were bloody. I knew another kid, originally from williamsburg, who underwent consistent beatings and humiliations at cheder (he had learning disabilities, it later turned out….). He spoke of nothing more than murdering the person who beat and humiliated him (now a choshuve rov) and tracking down every single one of those that taunted him at school to watch them slowly die a painful death at his hands.

Levi Aron is only the tip of the iceberg of what lies ahead…

  12. #6 nothing is getting done to secure our schools
hope this will waqke the autorties up once and for all as they have not done much to prevent this from happening
